My ongoing Reblogs or Context is the New Content series was part of Wasting time on the Internet 2.0, a project by Laura Catania and Thomas Artur Spallek, that took place at Kunsthalle Düsseldorf on June 30. For WTi 2.0, I selected nine posts that have 50.000 notes or more from Tumblr’s Most Popular Posts and I made videos with 10.800 reblogs (the equivalent of 3 hours in seconds). Since each video is more or less 20 minutes long, playing all of them takes around 3 hours. You find four of them below.
The show included works by: Nuno Patrício (PT), !Mediengruppe Bitnik (CH), Unità di Crisi (IT), Banz & Bowinkel (D), Emilie Gervais (FR), Sebastian Schmieg (D), Joe Hamilton (AU), New Bretagne (D), Jaakko Pallasvuo (FI), Florian Kuhlmann (D) and was also accompanied by a publication with written contributions by: Kenneth Goldsmith (Poet and Founder of UbuWeb), Alain Bieber (NRW-Forum Düsseldorf), Angelo Plessas (Artist, The Eternal Internet Brotherhood), Dirk von Gehlen (Autor, MashUp – Lob der Kopie), Internet-TBD, Paul Soulellis (Library of the Printed Web), Raffael Dörig (Kunsthaus Langenthal), Wolfgang Ullrich (Autor), Annet Dekker (Curator and researcher, TATE).
