Flatland, Silvio Lorusso, 2013

In Flatland: A Romance of Many Dimensions, written and illustrated by Edwin A. Abbott in 1884, a fictional two-dimensional world is inhabited by geometric shapes. Drawing from these premises, the work exposes the “flatness” of the digital interaction where the interface is commonly hidden behind skeuomorphic effects and analog-like animations. A version of the novel taken from Google Books is uploaded on issuu.com, then the embedded book, whose pages flip endlessly, is shown in an isometric environment.
