In Fight-or-Flight an old iPhone provides the only source of light in a dark room. On the screen of the device we see a matrix of productivity apps, all marked by the check icon, trembling. The “wiggle” animation, an iconic interface feature of the iOS mobile operating system, cartoonishly reflects the anxiety provoked by the digitally-mediated pressure of organizing time. The animation, which is activated when a user wants to delete apps, hints at the longing for an unattainable suspension of activities, a withdrawal from relentless self-management.
